Flat Tummy Workouts You Can Do Anywhere

Now that the month of holiday indulgences is behind us, no one wants a belly like a bowlful of jelly. If toned abs are on your resolutions list this year, we’ve put together a few flat tummy workouts that you can do at home, in a hotel room, at the office during your lunch break – just about anywhere!


Gym closed? On the road? Working late? Whatever your apparent obstacles to achieving flat abs, you can overcome them with these equipment-less workouts.

If you love the ability to increase the intensity, try an elevated plank pose. All you’ll need is a secure, raised surface to balance your legs on top of. This could be a stair, the couch or a curb. Add weight to your back – a partially filled bookbag works great – for more resistance. Keep your body straight and tense your core muscles for 1 to 1.5 seconds. Repeat up to 15 times, depending on your fitness level.

Hone your lower and side abdominals by going “around the world” (although you really don’t have to leave your house!). This exercise involves lying on your back with your hands under your hips. Raise your legs to begin. Slowly move your legs in a clockwise rotation, then reverse the motion. This is one rep. Do this up to 15 more times before starting another exercise.

Miss your in-person classes or personal trainer? As long as you have WiFi and about 10 minutes to spare, you can cut your six-pack by following along to this video. You don’t need any special apparatus or even much space, so no excuses! You might want to have a towel handy to wipe the sweat you’ll work up.

It’s not just for cyclists, but it does involve a circuit of exercises that target the muscles all around the core – from your lower back to your obliques to your transverse abs.
